Inception of Dakshineshwar Math

The seed of the worldwide Ramakrishna Movement was planted at the Kali temple in Dakshineshwar, Kolkata, by Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa. Spending more than three decades of His life in this temple compound, He established a spiritual empire that has been attracting countless spiritual aspirants through the years. It is here that He initiated Swami Vivekananda and dedicated him to serving society, following the dictum ‘Shiva Jnane Jiva Seva’
(service to a man thinking him to be God).
